Research is arguably the most important step in the building a website because it is the basis of creating user friendly design. Not doing enough research is like building a house without blueprints.
We approach this through techniques such as competitive analysis, user and stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiries and surveys. Some examples of these can be see in the photos on this page.
The objective is to understand the problem that the website is trying to solve AND to understand what makes software as intuitive and friction free as possible.
Through the research process I am always looking for the users objectives and goals while they are using the software. I am also looking for common pain points that are present.
I research so that ultimately I can increase user engagement and satisfaction.
Competitive Benchmarking; Online Surveys; Interviews; Stakeholder Meetings; & Usability Tests
Processing and understanding the research is just as important as doing the research because it allows me to create user-focused design. It allows me to create designs that are free of shallow insights and assumption bias.
